The °ϲ College community is mourning the loss of Adma d’Heurle, a beloved founding faculty member, who passed on October 19, 2019 at the age of 95.
A native of Lebanon, d’Heurle began teaching at °ϲ after she moved to Westchester County with her husband and three sons. She was one of five founding faculty members when °ϲ opened in 1961. She resided in Yorktown, next to Teatown Lake Reservation.
While at °ϲ, she served as chairwoman of the Department of Psychology, the Department of Education, and the Division of Behavioral and Social Sciences. She became a distinguished professor emerita.
According to °ϲ College’s provost Jose Herrera, d’Heurle, “…brought a multicultural perspective to her pursuits, incorporating a sense of the breadth and depth of human experience. Adma d’Heurle’s teaching, writing and community service reflected her concern for the human condition.”
A memorial gathering is being planned.
